Delivering Resilient & Sustainable Infrastructure
Stream B: How to design, build, operate and maintain sustainable & resilient infrastructure, to meet the demands of a changing climate
This session will explore how best to meet the demands of a changing climate and the impact this has on the built environment and major infrastructure.
First-hand expertise and real-world examples will provide insights on how to design, build, operate and maintain sustainable, resilient and adaptive infrastructure that is climate future-ready.
Effectively integrating sustainability metrics into the whole project life-cycle:
managing the supply chain
sustainable use of materials and waste practices
closing the gap between environmental objectives and engineering & design teams
using technology as a key accelerator and enabler of sustainable and resilient infrastructure
Using social equity and environmental justice as a lens in infrastructure development:
encouraging human-centric design and accommodating local culture and heritage
maximising local community engagement at all stages of the project
Using nature to embed climate resilience into infrastructure assets
Assessing an asset’s vulnerability to climate change to facilitate investment and manage risk
