Mark Coates FICE, FCIHT, FCInstCES is Vice President of Infrastructure Policy Advancement at Bentley Systems. He works with governments, investors, infrastructure owners and delivery leaders on the conditions that determine whether major projects move forward, including policy, financing, procurement and digital adoption. 

A former quantity surveyor, Mark has more than 35 years of experience in infrastructure and construction, including work with Thames Water, the Olympic Delivery Authority and Crossrail. This gives him a practical view of how commercial decisions made early affect delivery and long-term performance. 

Through the Transforming Infrastructure Performance forums, Mark convenes senior leaders across policy, finance and industry to examine why projects stall and what can be done differently. He is also a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton Business School and serves on the Strategic Board of the UK Digital Twin Hub.
