Head of Land, National Grid Transmission
Matthew Pearce is Head of Land at National Grid Transmission, where he is responsible for acquiring land and land rights to support the Great Grid Upgrade—one of the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes—as well as securing land for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and managing existing land interests across the network. With over two decades of experience, Matthew has spent the past 12 years in various land and property roles within National Grid. Prior to this, he worked as a contaminated land consultant for 11 years, giving him a deep understanding of environmental risk and sustainable land use. He is a Chartered Member of CIWEM and a Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC). Beyond his role at National Grid, Matthew also serves as a trustee for Surrey Wildlife Trust and Groundwork South.
