Thom Rawson is a sustainability leader with a decade of experience delivering impact across transport, infrastructure and sport. In his role as Sustainable Rail Principal at the Rail Safety & Standards Board, Thom leads the development and implementation of the Sustainable Rail Blueprint, the first ever industry-wide sustainability strategy for rail in Great Britain. Published in 2023, the Blueprint was endorsed by industry leaders and Government ministers, and highly commended at the Railway Innovation Awards for cross-industry collaboration. He is now delivering leading-edge propositions to embed sustainability within the future of rail, including through data insights, training programmes, and contracts, as well as overseeing a programme of pioneering environmental technical projects. Thom also works as an independent football-sustainability consultant, and previously worked on the sustainability leadership plan for London’s Heathrow Airport.
